A client brought his 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer to Mobile Edge in search of an infotainment system upgrade. The client was interested in a 2-DIN touchscreen radio. We showed him a Pioneer source unit that had Apple Carplay built in. The client loved the ability to send and receive text messages using only his voice. We demonstrated how easy it is to access music through Carplay, and the client noticed right away that the speakers in our display sounded better that what was in his car.
We installed a set of Hertz DSK165 component speakers in the front doors of the Lancer. We also installed our “basic” sound-deadening upgrade using HushMat. We then installed a set of Hertz DCX165 coaxials in the rear.
Since he wanted solid bass, we set the client up with a pair of Hertz 12-inch subwoofers. The speakers and subs are powered by a Hertz HCP5 amp that we mounted under the rear parcel shelf on custom steel brackets.
When the client returned from Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, to pick up his car, he loved how it sounded and was excited to start using Carplay.
