A client from Allentown contacted Mobile Edge while researching an automatic car starter for her 2015 Volkswagen Jetta. We talked to the client about where the car would be parked when she wanted to remote start it. As with most clients, the car is typically quite close, but she wanted an option to start the car when an RF wouldn’t have enough range.
We designed a Compustar-based remote car starter system that uses the factory key fob. All the client has to do is press the lock button three times in quick succession and her car will start. This system eliminates the need for an extra remote on her keychain.
To give her effectively unlimited range, we added a DroneMobile interface to the vehicle. DroneMobile uses an app on her smartphone to start the car from anywhere she has cellular service. She can also lock and unlock the doors remotely using the app.
Bob showed the client how to use the factory remote to start her car and got her smartphone all set up to work with the DroneMobile system.
