A repeat client from Coaldale recently brought his 2022 Subaru Outback to Mobile Edge for an audio upgrade. This client works at Subaru, so he would only take his vehicle to a reputable retailer to have work done on it. The client complained that, while the factory stereo sounded good, it lacked the volume he desired. After speaking with our product specialists, the client chose to have the factory speakers re-amplified by an aftermarket amplifier. We recommended the Audison AP F8.9 BIT amplifier, which features a digital signal processor and the ability to add a 12-inch subwoofer for a richer low-frequency response.
We started by fabricating one of our signature steel amp racks, which we then mounted under the front passenger seat. We used vehicle-specific adapters to cleanly route the necessary wiring. Because the Audison amplifier can also power a subwoofer, we mounted a Hertz 12-inch CS 300 S4 subwoofer inside a prefabricated enclosure and connected it to the system.
While the vehicle was in our bay, the client asked us to tint the front driver and passenger windows to match the factory shade of the rear windows for privacy.
Once the installation and tint application were complete, we auditioned the upgraded system to the client and he was pleased. We were able to retain the factory look and feel of the vehicle while upgrading the sound to a much more impressive level.
