Mobile Edge in Lehighton is proud to announce we are launching our tenth consecutive Coats for Kids Clothing Drive. When you donate a new or gently used child’s coat, we will give you a discount on the remote car starter with installation. Not only will the starter keep you warm, but the coat you donate will keep a little boy or girl warm and comfortable as well.
How the Coats for Kids Program Began
More than a decade ago, our founder, Mitch Schaffer, was working on his marketing plan for the upcoming remote starter season. He overheard a news report talking about children who didn’t have coats to keep them warm for the upcoming winter. A light bulb came on and the concept for the Coats for Kids program was created. After some research and phone calls, Mobile Edge launched the program.
Through Coats for Kids, any client who brings in a new or gently used child’s coat during the program will receive a discount on a new remote car starter purchase. Any client who buys a one-way remote starter will receive a $25 discount. Two-way system purchases will receive a $50 discount.
Only one discount is available per starter system purchase and this program cannot be combined with any other offers. As has happened many times in the past years, we would be happy to accept coat donations even if you aren’t purchasing anything from us. Hats, scarves and gloves are welcome, but a coat is what will get you a discount on a remote car starter.
Where Do the Coats Go?
All of your donations are distributed within the Carbon, Western Monroe and Eastern Schuylkill counties. Mobile Edge has partnered with Care Net of Carbon County to distribute the coats we collect. Care Net is a primarily volunteer nonprofit organization that provides one-on-one and group counseling to people in our community. Their educational programs cover life skills, relationship issues, pregnancy, parenting and much more. Care Net distributes the coats we collect, as well as baby clothing, baby furniture and diapers, to individuals who need a little help.
With more than 18% of children in Pennsylvania coming from families who have incomes below the poverty line, buying winter coats isn’t always financially possible.
Keep Everyone Warm this Year at Mobile Edge
We collect hundreds of coats each season, and we are proud that our clients have been so generous toward this worthy cause. If you have a coat that your child has outgrown, drop it off and we’ll make sure it gets to someone who can use it.
