Custom car audio installation and fabrication are among our core competencies at Mobile Edge in Lehighton, Pennsylvania. While we focus on delivering upgrades that sound amazing, we know that the way your new audio system looks is an important consideration when upgrading your vehicle. From a vinyl-wrapped trim panel on a subwoofer enclosure to uniquely designed center consoles, speaker pods and trim panels, our team of experts can deliver it all. Let’s look at some of the custom solutions we offer and projects we’ve completed.
Custom Car Audio Fabrication
Car audio installations that look amazing can transform your vehicle. Whether you want something that makes you smile when you get in the truck or something that gets other people smiling at cruise nights and car shows, our team of expert installers can create something amazing just for you. Our team has experience working with wood, plastics, vinyl and carpet. In addition, we have an extensive inventory of custom shape templates that allow us to add a unique look to even the most basic of installations.
Our custom upgrades include center consoles for cars and trucks. We can integrate power window switches, leather shifter boots, cup holders and even a subwoofer enclosure if there is enough room. We’ll work with you before we start work to determine whether you’d like the project to blend with existing upgrades in your vehicle or stand out as an accent to add some flair.
Custom Upgrades Improve Audio Performance
Much of the custom car audio fabrication we create is done to improve the performance of your car audio system upgrade. Custom dash and A-pillar pods allow us to place midrange drivers and tweeters in an optimal position to create an accurate and perfectly focused soundstage. We can create kick panel mounts for speakers in classic cars and hot rods to install midrange and midbass drivers that look as if they came with the vehicle. We can even paint the speaker grilles and trim rings to match the interior carpet and upholstery.
Custom fiberglass subwoofer enclosures for the cargo area of your car or truck are another popular solution. When we need every cubic inch of airspace to optimize the low-frequency performance of your subwoofer system, we can use resin-impregnated fiberglass sheets to create a vehicle-specific enclosure. These solutions are also popular under the rear seats of a pickup truck, in the spare tire well of a car or in the corner of the cargo area in an SUV. We finish the face of each enclosure to match the interior of the vehicle for a clean and tidy appearance.
Lighting Adds Style
Subtle lighting accents behind a speaker grille or trim panel can make a new set of subwoofers stand out. In addition, we can install single-color flexible LED lighting strips that match your vehicle. Another option is RGB LED lighting, which typically includes a remote control or a smartphone app that lets you set the lighting color to any of thousands of options. You can even configure the lights to cycle through colors or flash in different patterns.
Our Tools and Training Deliver Exceptional Results
We’ve created a dedicated woodshop at Mobile Edge that allows us to work on custom projects without adding dust to the entire installation bay. The shop is equipped with a high-performance dust collection system that draws airborne particles from our Grizzly table saw and a pair of Woodpeckers router lifts. The router lifts are fundamental to our fabrication process and let us efficiently create composite speaker mounting rings or trim panels. We use premium quality adhesives, which won’t peel or bubble, to hold vinyl, upholstery and carpet in place.
Custom Fabricated Steel Amp Racks
The steel racks we create to hold amplifiers and processors are one of our trademarks. We use flat bar and square channel steel to create rock-solid mounting solutions. We can incorporate mounts to secure subwoofer enclosures and mount stiffening capacitors and power distribution components to further improve the reliability and serviceability of the system.
Each component that we mount to the rack is held in place with machine screws that fasten to threaded holes in the steel. This mounting method ensures that everything will remain secure.
We have a dedicated welding table and chop saw with a metal blade that allow us to work efficiently. We finish all steel racks with corrosion-resistant paint, ensuring that they’ll look great for many years.
Creating a custom steel amp rack is the only way we’ll mount an amp; we don’t consider it an upgrade. We won’t screw them to a board hidden under the carpet, and we don’t use drywall screws or hook-and-loop fasteners to attach them to a seatback. Quite simply, every installation is executed to only the highest of standards.
Attention to Detail at Every Turn
From a custom grille for a subwoofer, a parcel shelf for the back of your hot rod or a complete custom subwoofer enclosure and amp rack in the back of your car or SUV, the installation experts at Mobile Edge in Lehighton can create almost anything.
