A repeat client from Jim Thorpe brought his 2013 Harley-Davidson Switchback to Mobile Edge for an audio rescue and upgrade. He recently purchased a pre-made fairing for the bike, but was quickly disappointed with the output of the entire system compared to other systems we’d installed for him in the past. While the source unit was functional, the amplifier and speakers inside the fairing were in dire need of an upgrade.
After talking with our product specialists, he decided to have us install a pair of Hertz Cento Pro 6X9 coaxial speakers. We recommended pairing these speakers with a Hertz powersports series HMP4D amplifier.
We began the installation by removing the existing equipment to make way for the new Hertz units. As we replaced the speakers, we added a modest amount of sound deadening to the inner and outer fairing to cut down on resonance from inside the panels. Once the speakers were installed, we moved on to the amplifier and mounted it securely using a custom-fabricated steel bracket.
Once the equipment was upgraded, we were able to tune the system, resulting in a much fuller, more dynamic sound. The client was just as pleased as we were!
