Here at Mobile Edge in Lehighton, we have been serving our clients since 1994 with a passion to offer the best-value, highest-performing products available. Over the last few years, more and more people have come to us about products for their trucks. After much deliberation and study, we took the plunge into the world of truck accessories. What better way to show off our new truck accessories than a 2015 Ford F150? That’s right – Mobile Edge has a new demo truck. In part one of the build, we focus on all the truck accessories, but you know we had to upgrade the electronics in the vehicle as well. You can read about them by clicking HERE.
Leveling Kit Gets The Height Right
We began this project by changing the look of the vehicle. It all started by installing a Readylift leveling kit in the front to remove the usual ugly nose-down look of a pickup truck. What we like about the Readylift kit is that, like all of their products, it’s of the highest quality and doesn’t change the ride quality.
Wheels And Tires Make Dramatic Impact
Once the front end was up, we knew the factory wheels and tires had to go. We installed a set of Ultra 17” black wheels with machined accents, along with Mickey Thompson Baja STX 33×11.5×17” tires.
Aggressive Pocket Flares
Once this new package was on the truck, we installed a set of Bushwacker pocket flares that we painted to match the beautiful red paint. The combination of the leveling kit, wheels and tires, and flares gave the truck a much-needed boost, making it look more aggressive.
Front-End Protection
On the front of the vehicle, we installed a black Lund Bull Bar with an integrated LED light bar inside it. We loomed the wiring for the LED light properly and mounted it securely, as well as soldering all the connections with heat shrink for maximum reliability and easy servicing in the future. We also installed a Weathertech hood protector to protect the front end from bugs and small road debris kicked up by another vehicle when on the road.
Trick Motorized Power Steps
Any pickup truck deserves a good set of side steps, and Mobile Edge sells all the quality brands, but this vehicle deserved something special, so we installed a set of Amp Research power steps. If you have never seen these steps in action, you really need to stop by and ask for a demo. Under normal circumstances, the steps are tucked up tight against the body, almost invisible from view. The instant you open any of the doors, the steps motorize down into position, giving the passengers a secure, solid place to put their feet when entering the vehicle. A few seconds after the last door is closed, they retract back into their invisible position.
Since they stay tucked up against the body when not in use, these steps are especially good when the weather turns ugly, since they won’t get snow and ice on them like a normal set of steps. You also gain LED lighting that illuminates the steps and the ground around them at night, which is a great benefit, since you’ll always know what is below you, potentially avoiding a slippery situation.
Bed Access Easy With Bed Step
In the rear of the vehicle, we installed a second product from Amp Research known as the Bed Step. This is a unique product, designed to make it a lot easier to get into and out of the bed of the truck. When you need it, you simply press down on it with your foot and it springs down into position. When you are done, you just push it up slightly and it retracts back up, tight against the bumper, until you need it again.
Truck Bed Accessories
In the bed, we installed a Pendaliner liner to protect the bed itself from the abuse of using it like a truck, and a BAK Revolver X2 bed cover to protect any cargo we may need to carry. The design of the Revolver is pretty simple. Imagine aluminum slats that are covered in marine-grade vinyl and lock securely into the bed rails mounted on the truck. When you open the tailgate and need bed access, you simply access the pull cable, which releases the cover and lets it roll up toward the cab. After you load the bed, you simply roll it back out, lock down the end closest to the tailgate, and the bed is secure once again. The cover can be retracted against the cab and cinched in place in case you need bed access while transporting a large item.
At nighttime, have you ever noticed how difficult it can be to see what is actually in your truck bed? For this reason, Mobile Edge installed a set of Anzo LED bed lights, making it easy to grab and maneuver all of your cargo when you are in a dark area. These bed lights can be activated almost any way you want, since we are experts in all things electrical in a vehicle, and can build you a circuit to trigger them any way you desire.
Backup Safety
Once you drive a full-size truck, you realize how handy a backup camera becomes, so we installed a Brandmotion rear view mirror with an integrated LCD monitor, as well as a Brandmotion tailgate camera. The system is OEM-quality and works great to help you avoid backing into something or someone.
Protective Window Tint And Deflectors
For a finishing touch, we installed our 3M Color Stable window tint on the truck with the front windows at 35% and the rest in 20% film. What we love about this film is its incredible heat rejection. That also protects your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays, which are known to cause premature aging and even skin cancer.
A set of Weathertech side window deflectors was the final piece of the puzzle on the outside of the truck, giving the occupants an easy way to enjoy some fresh air without all that road noise.

That bed step is a really nice touch. My sister loves to her truck, but she is only 4 foot 11. I think she could use something like that. I didn’t even know they made anything like that. I will have to show my sister. She will love the idea. It would make her life a little easier.

It certainly does come in handy! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I’m sure your sister would love it.
