A client from here in Lehighton came to Mobile Edge looking for a truck step upgrade solution. His wife was having trouble getting in and out of their 2013 Ford F-150 with the factory running boards. During his research online, he saw our shop demo truck and the AMP Research Powerstep system we installed. The couple dropped by to test-drive the steps. The client’s wife liked where the step was located when extended. Having the steps retract when the door is closed gives the truck a clean look.
The first step was to remove the factory running boards and brackets from the truck. We then assembled the motors onto the Powerstep linkage assembly and installed the end-caps on the new running boards. We mounted the motorized linkage and the idle linkage to factory mounting holes with the supplied hardware, then attached the new step. The final step was to install the step controller and connect it to the battery. The steps get a signal from the OBD-2 port, so all we had to do was plug that in.
The clients love their new steps. If you are interested in accessories for your truck, contact us here.
