A recent client who found Mobile Edge by way of our online reviews brought in his 2023 Subaru Crosstrek for a remote car starter. Although these installations are typically routine, this particular one was unique in that the vehicle was equipped with a manual transmission. Because of this, the dealership where he bought the vehicle was unable to add remote start.
When the client called us, the 2023 Subarus had not been verified for firmware compatibility, so we had to reach out to the manufacturer to confirm proper integration. Once we had confirmation, we called the client and he excitedly scheduled an appointment for installation.
After talking to our product specialists, the client chose a simple one-way, one-button remote to carry in addition to his factory key fob. This remote paired with the Compustar remote car starter system specifically designed for manual transmission vehicles. For the system to function, the vehicle must be left in neutral and the parking brake set, which can be done by having the driver set “reservation mode” before exiting the vehicle.
We took great care in installing the system, safely routing wiring and connecting the system to the vehicle. After we finished, we returned the vehicle to the client and showed him how to operate the remote starter. He was excited to finally have this function added to his new vehicle.
