A repeat client from Northampton brought his 2014 Toyota Tundra to Mobile Edge in Lehighton for a remote car starter installation. As we’ve done work for this client in the past, he was familiar with our consultation process. We were able to put together a custom remote start solution that would make getting into the vehicle on a cold winter morning or hot summer day much more comfortable. The Compustar starter system we installed in this vehicle is based on the G9-series two-way remote kit. The remote beeps and flashes an LED to confirm that lock, unlock and remote start commands have been received and executed by the vehicle. In terms of range, we describe these remotes as having six times the power of the fob that comes with most cars and trucks.
For those times when the client is out of range, we added a DroneMobile telematics system to the vehicle. The client can remote-start the truck using the DroneMobile app on his smartphone. The commands are relayed through the internet and the cellular phone data network to the vehicle. He can be at work, shopping or on a beach in the tropics and still have control over the vehicle.
The last upgrade was to add a temperature sensor to the remote start controller. Anytime the starter is activated and the interior of the vehicle is near freezing, the system will automatically activate the rear-window defroster and the heated side mirrors so they can start melting any ice or snow.
