When most people think of remote car starters, they think of staying warm in the morning. Guess what? That is the #1 reason that people buy them. What most people don’t know about is all of the added convenience that a remote car starter can offer.
2 Way Remotes – The Ultimate in Convenience
YOU HAVE TO GET A 2 WAY REMOTE STARTER!!!! Well, you don’t have to…. But you should!
Remote starters are probably one of the best additions that you can make to your car. You press that button and ABRACADABRA! The car starts. But how do you know it is started? If you can see it, that’s great… the parking lights will be on and you may see some exhaust… the car’s running!
But what if you are parked around the corner or in a distant lot at work? 2 Way to the rescue! Mobile Edge offers remote controls that actually get a signal back from the car! The remote starter unit sends a message to the remote to let it know a variety of information. Is it started or stopped? Locked or unlocked? Interior temperature, vehicle battery voltage, and more…all of that in the palm of your hand.
2 Way costs a little more, but trust me… It’s worth it!
Keyless Entry
Yeah… I know… Your car came with keyless entry. You don’t need to add it to your remote car starter. Let me tell you why you do. Have you ever walked into a restaurant in the pouring rain and realized that you didn’t lock your doors? You press the button on your factory remote and …… NOTHING HAPPENS!… You are too far away (If you drive a GM product, I know this has happened to you!). Factory remotes typically have about 50 – 100 feet of range (Most GM’s are lucky to have 50… No offense GM!).
Remote car starters, by nature, need to have a lot better range than 50 or 100 feet. That range is not only for starting, but for any other features that are hooked up to it. Our remote starters will allow you to lock your doors (or pop your trunk) from as far away as a mile! For you locals out there, that is about as far as the distance from McDonalds to the Mahoning Speedway!
If your car did not come equipped with power door locks, don’t panic! Mobile Edge can add them to almost any vehicle.
Quality Vehicle Security
Yup… I’ve heard this before too: “I already have a factory security system.” Are you aware of what that factory security system does? Not much really. It is a glorified starter kill in many cases. Most factory alarms do not have a shock sensor of any kind. A thief will potentially be stopped from stealing your car, but he can break the window and steal you iPod, your Garmin, your sunglasses and anything else that you have left in your car (Not the golf clubs!)
Mobile Edge offers an extremely secure remote start/security combo system. A high quality shock sensor will trip the alarm if a window is broken or a cylinder is punched. And this is the best part: If you have a 2 way system, you will be notified of the breach up to a mile away!
Heated Seats
I covered heated seats in a previous post, but it bears repeating. All of our automatic car starters can interface with most factory heated seats. Simply remote start your car and then press an auxiliary button on your remote control. BAM!!! Your delicate posterior will be toasty warm seconds after hitting the seat! If you don’t have heated seats, Mobile Edge can add them!
Rear Window Defrost
One of the huge advantages of an automatic car starter is the fact that you can eliminate scraping your front and side windows. Simply leave your climate control set for High/Heat/Defrost. When you remotely start your car or truck, the heat will come on and blow across the front and side windows… No more scraping… Right?
Not necessarily. Your back window will not likely heat up enough to melt the back window of your vehicle. This is especially true on SUVs and minivans. We have an easy solution. Mobile Edge can interface with your rear window defrost circuit. Once again, start your vehicle and then hit an auxiliary button on the remote. Your rear window defrost comes alive and when you arrive at your car, you are ready to roll. Be sure to wave to the neighbor who is scraping his windows in 18 degree weather! LOL!
Anti-Grind
OK.. Your car is remote started and you get in and…………. GRRRRRRRRINNNNDDDD!!!!!! You turn the key too far and grind the starter! NOT COOL!
We have an easy solution for you. We call it Anti-Grind and it is a simple circuit in most vehicles. A couple of parts and a little wiring and you will never grind your starter again! Be sure to ask us about Anti-Grind when you stop in!
Car Finder
Did you ever lose your vehicle in a crowded parking garage or lot? Mobile Edge can solve that problem for good. When we install your remote start, we can hook up a circuit to your car’s horn. When you press a button on the remote, your horn will honk. That should make it easier to find, wouldn’t you say?
Other Convenience Features
Mobile Edge can integrate with the heated mirrors, memory seats, power windows and sunroof of most cars. The list of convenience features is about as long as your imagination. If you want it, chances are go that Mobile Edge can do it!

I would like to start my van automatically when the inside temp reaches a preset value in order to sleep in the vehicle. i need an adjustable 10 degree F. differerential and a range of 60-80 degrees F.
In this way I could heat or cool the vehicle with the engine. I would use a portable CO monitor as well.
Do you make such a control or is there a circuit in your unit that I could swith with a themostat in order to start the vehicle.
Thanks
John

John, unfortunately this would not be something that our store would get involved with. I’m not saying that it is not possible, but the liability associated with doing this or even providing assistance with would not be worth the risk. Sorry but I cannot help or recommend that you do this.

john, I want the same thing. did you ever find something that would do the trick?
Bill says
Hey John. Looking for that same thing as well. Let me know what you find. I know they make this somewhere! Bill. Northern Indiana. 5746018265

Was anybody able to get this figured out on how to do it?

Hi, I have a question about the anti grind. I requested it in a car starter but found out “it doesn’t work” or as the installer said “the anti grind not working is because I have a Kia Soul there is nothing he can do because no car starter can stop anti grind with my car.” Is that statement accurate. (2010 kia soul). I really research before I brought this and it all seems to have back fired. I even remember asking about soldering vs T-tap and he said there was no difference (He actually insulted the solder method -something about it making the wires to short and if you have to go back it makes extra work.) So any advice on what I was told vs what is best? Thanks and Happy New Year.

I talked with our install manager this morning just to be sure and he confirmed that there is no reason that they could not have installed anti-grind on your vehicle. It is a very straightforward process for any skilled installer. In fact, one some Kias it is recommended that you add this feature every time. You have a right to question the reasoning as to why this was not done.
As for soldering…. I could type for hours on this subject.
T-Taps were invented for Temporary repairs in military vehicles in the field. They were never intended for permanent use. There are very good quality T-taps and they can be used correctly in a vehicle. I know of a couple very good shops that use them. That said, I have never and will never use them. There is NO COMPARISON between the quality and integrity of a T-tapped connection and a soldered connection.. Soldering is a better solution and even my friends that use T-taps will agree with that.
I don’t want to throw the other installer under the bus. He may just be a little Green and needs to learn more. We all were there at one time. What you should do in print out this comment and go in and speak to the owner. BE NICE!!! 🙂 We all make mistakes… tell him that you are confident that an error was made and that you simply would like it corrected. IF NECESSARY, show him my response. I am qualified to make the above statements based on my credentials: We have been named a top 12 retailer in the US 5 years in a row (2008-2012). We were the 2010 Retailer of the year. Our work, including our remote starter installations have been featured in various magazines. I wrote a book called The Ultimately Remote Starter Buying Guide. Ask ANY quality shop in this country (or Canada or Australia) about Mobile Edge and they will know who we are…
So, that should help you and I even got in a little shameless self promotion! Please let me know how you make out! I really am interested!

Is there a brand of 2way remote starter that would be able to control the heated seats in a 2015 golf?
Mitchell Schaffer says
I wouldn’t see why we couldn’t do that with our equipment. Please stop in and let us take a look at your vehicle and we can figure out the best way to do it.

Do you have a remote starter that can monitor vehicle battery status and when it drop to a certain percentage, automatically start the engine?
I am looking for a remote starter for two reasons
First as a volunteer at my local fire department, I want to get a jump on getting my vehicle to operating temperature, by starting my vehicle while I prepare to drive to the scene. So I could start my truck as soon as my pager goes off.
Second, while at the scene, I want to be able to turn my vehicle off to save gas. Since y emergancy lights would remain on, I want the starter to automatically start my truck until the battery recharges. I have seen this ability advertized in the past, but can not find anything on it at this time.

How do you turn the vehicle off after starting It? I plan on using the remote starter to start and stop a vehicle being towed behind a motor home. The vehicle is a 2001 gmc sonoma with a manual transmission. It will be on a tow bar in neutral and I will have control of the brakes remotely using a brake buddy system that operates the sonomas brake pedal.
