A client from Palmerton dropped into Mobile Edge to ask about having a remote car starter installed and finding a way to use the subwoofer he had left over from a previous vehicle. In terms of the car starter, we explained how we could use a Compustar system to work with the manual transmission in his 2022 Jeep Wrangler. For the subwoofer, we suggested an amplifier that would make it sound great. The client loved the plan and gave us the go-ahead to schedule an appointment.
Manual Transmission Remote Starter
Though you may hear many different stories from different retailers, we love installing remote starters on vehicles with manual transitions. More specifically, we will install only Compustar remote starters on these vehicles as its safety systems are effectively foolproof. We used a Compustar CM-X controller with a Blade AL module to communicate with the computers in the Jeep. The DAS-II security sensor is a critical component in this system as it will shut the engine down immediately if the vehicle moves forward or backward during the starting process. We even test this on each vehicle, and they only move up to 6 inches, if at all.
The client chose the Compustar Pro P1WR3-FM one-button remote for his starter system. This remote provides at least six times as much range as the factory key fob so that he can start the vehicle from inside his home or at work.
Jeep Subwoofer Upgrade Adds Excitement
The client owned a Hertz CS300S4 subwoofer from another vehicle. We suggested using the Audison SR1.500 monoblock amp to power the sub. Our team created one of our trademark welded-steel mounting racks for the amplifier to secure it under the driver’s seat. Next, we mounted one of the VCR-S2 bass knobs for the amp in the storage pocket at the bottom of the dash. We used a PAC Audio LP72 level converter to extract an audio signal from the factory amplifier and drive the sub amp. Once everything was wired, we installed the sub in the cargo area, then set the level controls and crossover on the amp so that it would blend nicely with the rest of the vehicle’s speakers.
