It doesn’t always have to be about amazing audio systems here at Mobile Edge. This Lehighton client really wanted to fit their 2004 Kia Sorento with a back up assistance camera and monitor. That said, they had no interest in replacing the factory installed radio or modifying the vehicle to mount an external display.
We were happy to go over the options and our client was thrilled to find out they could have their cake and eat it to. We added a camera on the rear lift gate with a bracket that used the existing mounting locations for the license plate. The video feed and power were routed into the vehicle through the factory wire boots and up to the windshield rear view mirror location.
The factory mirror was unbolted and replaced with an aftermarket mirror that housed the display for the camera. The monitor is concealed behind a two-way mirror until the vehicle is placed in reverse. At that time the back up system automatically switches on the monitor and displays a clear view behind the vehicle.
