We know that not everybody is a Tony Horton, Jillian Michaels or, perhaps the most famous fitness instructor of all, Richard Simmons! Our clientele and social media friends run the gamut from fitness fanatics to snack food experts and everything in between. While many aren’t getting out of the house for work, it’s a good idea to plan a little physical activity to keep the blood flowing. Aside from social distancing, good health is the best defense against COVID-19.
Exercise Tips for Beginners
If you are more apt to follow the plot of your favorite TV show than plan your next workout, we’ve got an idea. The most important thing you can do is go for a walk. Walking isn’t fancy or complicated, and it doesn’t require any special equipment. Put on some comfortable and supportive shoes and head out. If you’re a regular walker, try finding some hillier terrain or somewhere with stairs you can climb.
Stay Heart Healthy
If you live a more active lifestyle, go for a jog or run. Plan your route to achieve your heart-rate and calorie-burning goals. You can also work out with weights at home. If you don’t have a home gym, look around the house for things to lift. Paint cans make great free-weights. Curling the 40-pound bag of dog food works great! Of course, if you do have a home gym, planning new routines that focus on different muscle groups will add variety to your workout.
Health Fanatics Unite!
If you used to go to the gym or a CrossFit box, keeping up with your routine is important. Check and see if they are offering virtual workouts or classes using Zoom. You may also want to look at the Peloton app. Peloton offers stretching, yoga, strength training and running workouts. Best of all, the app is currently free to try for 90 days as a result of the pandemic.
