You never guessed that day would come that you actually had nothing better to do than start spring cleaning your home. For the staff at Mobile Edge in Lehighton, the reality that we’d actually have to start doing all those things that have been on our to-do lists for years came in early April. Of course, as things go, cleaning soon turns into the need to build a shelf or a workbench. Tim Allen would be SO proud!
Assess and Plan Your Cleaning
Before you dive into cleaning the garage or workshop, give it a once-over. This is best done standing a bit of a distance – either in the doorway or the driveway. If you have your arms crossed, that’s even better. Look at your storage space, your tools, your sports equipment and the junk. You may need to build a set of shelves to get everything tidied.
Do you recall the wall of supplies at M5 Industries from “MythBusters”? Storing items in plastic bins keeps them clean and dust-free. That way, if you’re storing stuff in the house, your photos, books, clothes and decorations will stay dry if there’s ever a leak or flood. Don’t ask us how we know that.
Projects are Fun?!
Once everything is clean and tidy, undertaking a project or two is a great way to spend a day. You can rearrange the furniture in the den or a bedroom. Moving stuff around doesn’t cost a penny. It’s also a great way to change things up.
If you are so inclined, painting a room is another interesting project. We won’t say it’s a great one since some of us don’t like to paint. The end result can look pretty neat. If you don’t have paint already, call around and see if you can buy some by curbside pickup.
Your garden and property might need some attention. Rake up any leaves leftover from the fall, pull a few weeds out of the garden, and trim any branches or bushes that are getting a little unwieldy.
Spring Cleaning Is Refreshing
A small tip: Cleaning the windows you look through the most in your house can be refreshing. If you have a big window in the den or living room, give the inside and outside a good clean. The result will genuinely change the way you see the world.
If you’ve undertaken a cleaning or small project, share it with us on our Facebook page. We’d love to see it!
