A client from Jim Thorpe recently brought her 2016 Subaru Outback to Mobile Edge for a remote car starter. Years ago, we installed a remote starter in her Kia Sportage and, with the cold weather approaching, she wanted a starter in her new car. We confirmed where and how she would be using the new system before suggesting a solution.
We based the new system on the Compustar FT-7200S control module and the RF-2W1B-SP remote kit. The remote kit includes a pair of one-button Slice Jr. remotes. One of the remotes features two-way communication, while the second remote is a spare one-way remote. The Slice Jr. remotes offer 5x power range, or about 2,500 feet under optimal conditions. This vehicle has an intelligent security system built into it, so we used the Blade-AL communication interface to allow us to start the vehicle.
We added an FT-Temp sensor to the 7200S brain. With this sensor installed, the system will automatically turn on the rear window defroster any time the car is started and the temperature inside the vehicle is below 42 degrees.
The client loves her new starter!
