Tamaqua Chevy Client Gets Silverado Accessories

A client of ours from Tamaqua contacted Mobile Edge about purchasing some 2006 Chevy Silverado accessories and upgrading the audio system. She had been looking for a truck just like this one for a while. She was very excited to be able to personalize it. We went through our accessory catalogs and demonstrated several products on our audio display boards. This helped her choose the right solutions for her truck. With a plan in place, we ordered the parts and scheduled an appointment for the installation.

Audio System Upgrade Components

Apple CarPlay allowed the client to have voice-control over her smartphone.

The bass for the first truck was provided by 2 10″ Hertz subwoofers.

The first subwoofer system was powered by a Memphis amplifier.

The client selected a Pioneer AVH-4200NEX for her truck for its Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration features. She can send and listen to text messages, make phone calls and get turn-by-turn navigation directions by talking to the radio. We installed the radio in the dash and connected it to a set of Hertz Dieci series DSK165.3 component speakers for the front doors. This 6.5-inch component set is a vast improvement to the factory speakers and offers a dramatic improvement in sound quality.

To enhance the system’s bass response, she chose a pair of Hertz DS 25.3 10-inch subwoofers. We installed them in an Audio Enhancers CREW90C10 subwoofer enclosure. The enclosure fits snugly against the rear wall of the truck. We mounted a 500-watt Memphis Car Audio PRX1.500 amplifier under the seat to power the pair of subwoofers.

We replaced the factory headlights and turn signals on the front grill with new units from Anzo. An set of 111009 high-beam and low-beam assemblies, and a 511039 parking light set, both in Crystal Black improved the looks and the lighting performance. We mounted a Dee Zee DZ500749 UltraBlack Steel bull bar to the front of the truck. The UltraBlack bar is made from 3-inch diameter mandrel-bent steel and features a sturdy and durable black powder coat finish. The last accessory was a set of Lund RX103S Elite Series Black Rivet Style front and rear fender flares. These ABS flares added 2-inches of tire coverage and looked great with the Goodyear tire package on the truck.

The client loved the way the system sounded and how we upgraded the look of the Silverado. We finished the project in the fall of 2016. Unfortunately, in March of 2017, the client was involved in a 20-car accident on Interstate 80. Her beloved Silverado was written off by the insurance company. This accident was not the end though. After some searching, she found a 2005 Silverado that already had some accessories, including new wheels and tires. Once the insurance company settled her claim, the client was back at Mobile Edge to start again.

New Style and Functionality Upgrades

The new tail lights not only look great, they are brighter and safer.

The new flares look great on the Silverado.

Entry and exit from the truck is now safer with the addition of step bars.

We ordered a replacement set of 111009 headlights and 511036 turn signals. This time we added 211022 tail light assemblies. A set of TrailFX A7066B 5” oval bar bent end side steps, and AVS 94044 Auto Ventshade Ventvisors accent the sides of the truck. We installed another set of Lund RX103S fender flares to help conceal the Fuel wheels and Toyo tires. We ordered and installed another Dee Zee Bull Bar, added a set of black Chevy emblems and tinted the front windows with 3M Color Stable CS20 film to finish off the exterior upgrade.

Audio Upgrades: Take 2

The client can safely drive and talk at the same time thanks to the Bluetooth feature of her new radio.

The client wasn’t quite ready to upgrade the entire audio system, but she did request a new head unit so that she could make phone calls and stream audio over Bluetooth. We installed a JVC KD-RD98BTS Single-DIN CD Receiver. The client plans to return later in the year to upgrade the speakers, and add an amplifier and subwoofer to complete the sound system upgrade.
