A client from Tamaqua, PA, dropped in at Mobile Edge to inquire about a remote car starter for his Dodge Journey. He had received a Mobile Edge gift card as a holiday gift and was anxious to make use of it. We discussed where he parks his vehicle when at home and work to determine how much range he would need. He mentioned that he didn’t want a second remote on his keychain. Armed with this information, we designed a remote starter system for him.
We installed a Compustar CM7200S control module and a Blade-AL vehicle interface module. The interface communicates with the vehicle’s data bus and allows the starter to send commands directly to the vehicle computer. We programmed the system so pressing the lock button on the factory remote in quick succession would make the vehicle start.
For a long-range remote solution, the client chose the DroneMobile smartphone interface. With an app installed on his phone, he can lock, unlock and start his Journey. He can also look up the location of the vehicle on Google Maps.
The client loves the car starter and telematics interface.
